In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. When installing Windows Defender on a new XP system you might receive an error code 80004002 after trying to update the program. We have found a solution to this error code by following these steps. Register the Windows Update DLLs by executing the REGSVR32 command, followed by the name of the DLL to register. Register/re-register all of these:
  • wuapi.dll
  • wuaueng.dll
  • wucltux.dll
  • wups.dll
  • wups2.dll
  • wuwebv.dll
After registering the DLLs above you should be able to successfully update Windows Defender.
