After the little disaster that was the Windows Vista operating system, Microsoft seem to be back on form with Windows 7. The OS has now reached over 300 million licenses around  the world, which, according to Microsoft, represents 20% of all PCs connected to the internet (Source: zdnet.com).

But for the rest of MS-friendly PC owners who are still plugging away on Windows XP or Vista, is the news that Windows 8 is now on the horizon going to put  people off making that initial switch to 7?

Microsoft have created a computer program that checks your PC to see if it's compatible for a Windows 7 upgrade (in other words 'Windows 7 Ready') and then provides a report outlining any compatibility issues and offers some guidance on fixing the PC before you install Windows 7.

It is possible to install a counterfeit or pirated copy of Vista that bypasses the online Genuine Validation Check. The computer bypasses this check by running a special script (or programming code).
