Tips To Remove Browser Toolbars You Didn't Install

Add-on toolbars are actually Browser Help Objects that are plugged into Web browsers, such as Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox, to incorporate new enhancements and functionalities within them. In other words, the main aim of these toolbars is to enhance and speed up the Web browsing experience of users.

Some of the common features of add-on toolbars include:

  • Fast and one-click search features.
  • Pop up-blockers.
  • Globally accessible bookmarks.
  • Shortcuts to various features offered by the toolbar manufacturer.
  • Automatic filling of online forms and many more such features.

Some of the most popular add-on toolbars are the Google toolbar, MSN toolbar, and the Yahoo toolbar. You can download the toolbars you want from their Web sites and install them on your computer.

Many toolbars come packaged with other software tools that you may need. For example, the Yahoo toolbar is packaged with Yahoo Messenger, the MSN toolbar with MSN Messenger, and the NetZero toolbar with the Net Zero Platinum software.

Although these add on toolbars are useful, having too many of them may slow down your Web browser. This is the reason why it is recommended that you do not install too many toolbars in your Web browser. Discussed below are the steps that you can perform to remove unwanted toolbars from Internet Explorer and Firefox.

Although the methods listed above are common methods to uninstall common toolbars from Internet Explorer and MoZilla FireFox, there are some toolbars such as the Mirar toolbar that are malicious in nature. These toolbars are actually spyware programs and their main task is to steal your confidential information and trade it with external entities. These programs also hijack your Web pages, and forcefully direct you to advertising Web sites. To completely remove Mirar toolbar and other similar spyware toolbars, you need to use a reliable antispyware tool. This tool helps in complete removal by scanning the entire disk and registry for malicious files and then eradicating them from the system.

It is also recommended that you perform a registry cleanup and defrag using a reliable registry cleaner tool to ensure that any left behind information and empty registry keys are eliminated.
