Sequencer – The core of the studio. The sequencer is where you layout the arrangement of the song and how the different parts of the audio material relate to each other in matter of timing and sound. Most sequencers have wave editing possibilities and host software instruments (also called Virtual Instruments). Some of the software manufacturers provide also lower functions or capabilities versions of the sequencers for lower price tags. Wave Editor – the precise cutting tools for audio, as the name suggests the wave editor can edit the sound files by using their wave display for any editing tasks.
Wave editors are nowadays are a part of the sequencer but they are still powerful editor like Steinberg WaveLab (http://www.steinberg.de/ProductPage_sb6636.html?Product_ID=2442&Langue_ID=4) and Sony Sound Forge (http://www.sonymediasoftware.com/Products/ShowProduct.asp?PID=961) for the PC platform and Bias Peak (http://www.bias-inc.com/products/peakPro5) for the Mac platform.
